On 18th July, Hon Tony Burke, Minister for Sustainability, Environment, Water, Population and Communities and Hon Paul Caica, South Australian Minister for Water and the River Murray announced that $1.3m would be provided to support a feasibility study and a business case and program proposal for the South Australian River Murray Improvements Program, to be undertaken by the WIA and SA State Government.
While more details are to be firmed up through the feasibility study, it is expected that the Program will provide up to 40 GL of water to the Commonwealth for $240 million, most of which will be invested back into the industry to deliver irrigation efficiences..
